About the Club

Since 1873, the Westmoreland Club has perpetuated its history of excellence with an unwavering commitment to the service and standards set forth by its founders. Club members, comprised of leaders in business, industry, government, arts and education reflect the exceptional and exciting dynamics of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Club’s quarters are located in a landmark Georgian mansion in the heart of downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The city and its surrounds lay claim to five colleges and universities, several large medical facilities, performing arts centers, theaters and museums and is home to a variety of large businesses and corporations.

The distinctive style of the Westmoreland Club, with its finely appointed furnishings and elegant dining rooms for both intimate and grand occasions, make it a unique and refined choice for social, business and family entertaining. Members treasure the Westmoreland Club for its world class cuisine, impeccable service, personal attention and exceptional facilities. An enduring heritage of excellence has established the Westmoreland Club as one of our country’s finest and most esteemed private city clubs.

In 1922 the Westmoreland Club purchased the Dr. Levi P. Shoemaker residence in order to accommodate an expanding membership.
